Joining Neighboring Units is an innovative Manhattan residential architecture project located on the fourteenth floor of the Level Club condominium in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The design merges two adjacent condo units into a cohesive, contemporary space of approximately 1,800 sf. This project is now featured on the Archtivy global design map, highlighting its successful integration into urban interior architecture.

The client sought a modern, open atmosphere with clean architectural lines and abundant use of natural materials. Emphasizing stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, the design overcomes structural challenges such as exterior demising walls and the need for extensive storage. The result is a sophisticated, material-rich interior that surpasses client expectations.

The layout centers on a large rectangular “public” zone encompassing the living, dining, kitchen, and entertainment areas. Surrounding this core are carefully optimized secondary spaces—bedrooms, bathrooms, and efficient closets—making the most of every square foot. Frosted-glass slots in the surrounding partitions introduce natural light into the central zone, while recessed niches showcase art and treasured artifacts.

Finely finished in white maple paneling across floors, walls, and ceiling, trimmed with clear anodized aluminum, the continuity of materials enhances spatial volume and highlights architectural details. Walnut accents define the kitchen, while bathrooms feature green glass tiles and niche lighting concealed behind floating mirrors.

This project illustrates the transformation of a typical Manhattan condo layout into an architecturally rich and efficient home. Thanks to its thoughtful design and iconic material palette, Joining Neighboring Units is a standout example of interior architecture projects featured on Archtivy's global design map.
