Zacatitos 05 is a fully off-grid desert residence situated along the rugged coastal terrain of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Designed by Campos Studio, the home is an elegant exploration of passive desert architecture, blurring the boundaries between the built environment and its natural surroundings.

Perched on a sloping site that stretches from desert vegetation to the Sea of Cortez, the home is organized around a central circulation spine that bridges earth and ocean. This spatial journey culminates in a framed panoramic view—one that captures both sky and water in a single visual composition.

Earth-Embedded Interiors:
Portions of the living space are embedded into the sloped terrain, using the thermal mass of the earth for passive temperature control.
Natural Shading and Orientation:
The eastern-facing platform allows the home to welcome the sunrise while bedroom volumes provide shading as the sun climbs.
Seamless Landscape Integration:
The design guides residents from shaded interiors to wide-open desert terraces that extend naturally to the sea.
Off-Grid Living:
The home operates fully off-grid, utilizing passive solar orientation, natural ventilation, and local materials to minimize environmental impact.
